अद्यैव कुरु तच्छ्रेयो,
मा त्वां कालोऽतिगान्महान् ।
को हि जानाति कस्याद्य,
मृत्यु - कालो भविष्यति ।।
अर्थात्~जो श्रेष्ठ कार्य तुम्हें करना है, उसे आज ही कर लो । कहीं तुम्हारा शुभ अवसर निकल न जाये । कौन जानता है कि आज किसकी मृत्यु का समय है ।
भावार्थ यह है कि मनुष्य को श्रेष्ठ कर्म शीघ्र ही कर लेना चाहिए । पता नहीं कल यह शरीर रहे या न रहे !
