Many of us complain that life is unfair, but that very fact proves just how fair it can be!!
Life doesn’t discriminate!!
Everyone’s life contains difficulties and the art to deal with these difficulties makes us survivor!!
I was raised by parents (particularly Grandparents) who taught me about survival behavior. My Grandfather Pt. Devram Sharma’s father Pt. Shivlal Sharma died when he (my Grandappa) was a child, and my grandfather told me that it was one of the best things that ever happen to him because it taught him how to survive.
My Grandmother Mrs. Sajjanbai Sharma, in times of adversity, would tell me, ” Beta, don’t take it as a problem, take it as an opportunity to prove yourself. It was meant to be . God is redirecting you! Something good will come out of this!” It never failed to amaze me how often God did something to put my Grandmother right.
I have learned a lot from my Grandparents about the importance of empathy and compassion.
To become a survivor against all odds, we need to allow our creativity and intuition to guide us.
We need to learn “live to now.”
Survivors don’t live in the past or the future. I guarantee that if you live in the moment , a voice will begin to speak to you with creative thoughts and ideas that will amaze you!! Listen to that voice, follow those ideas. Unless you do this, you can’t emerge as a survivor.
Besides this, we should not forget the truth that it is not selfish to care for yourself. If you don’t , who will?? Part of surviving is knowing you are not just role you are playing. You need a life with the self-esteem and self-worth that go with it. To get that life we need to see the world through the eyes of a child. A childlike sense of humor is a vital necessity if one is to survive life!
Always remember my friends, survivors are not afraid to have feelings.
You must be in touch with your body and its message. Numbing or distracting yourself may stop pain temporarily, but it wouldn’t help you survive. Learn from Pain. Know that it can be a wake-up call, gift, or new beginning. If you do not use your pain , you will lose yourself and your identity!!!
